You can set up your own frame guides and use that to frame the shots. The Director’s Viewfinder feature comes with the following options for frame guides: You can also use the cheaper LCD viewfinder. This EVF has the ability to tilt up till 90 degrees. I haven't even gotten into using it as a cinema camera yet.The Sigma fp L comes with an additional EVF. What you get for the price of this camera is actually remarkable. What I love about this camera is that it can be rigged up to be a pro shooting powerhouse, and then stripped back with a tiny leica lens and sit in my pocket as my daily street carry / travel camera. It eats batteries so it's best to set it to eco power mode and then you'll be fine. I'll also add, it has high speed burst mode for 9 shots in a row at full res 60mp DNG, then buffers, but you can still keep shooting a few at a time continuously even while it's buffering to catch up. If you're not trying to catch super fast action all day long, I would consider it. What it does give you in return, is amazing 60mp files with nice character, gorgeous colour straight out of camera and medium format-like dynamic range. The only negative thing i'd say is that the autofocus struggled at times and obviously doesn't perform as good as a DLSR or perhaps a Sony / Canon / Nikon high end mirrorless if you're used to those kinds of super fast focusing cameras (which i'm not - I come from using manual focus medium format cameras). I can report it's a very capable camera considering what it is. I used it with the MC-21 and a Sigma Art 24-70mm on a 2 day fashion client job on location yesterday. So I ditched that plan for the moment :Dįor how much would you get Z6 (with RAW upgrade?) and Ninja V? If its a lot more compared to Fp, I would think twice since Z6 is discontinued and video specs are more outdated.Ī review for people wanting some info on how the Sigma fp L performs out in the field of fashion. Like pretty much every lens was over 1k€. I was thinking to switch back to Z mount with the release of Z9 but I found out that getting same focal length lenses as I have at this moment would cost me way too much. DG DN lineup is really compact and nicely priced. Lumix S prime lenses are quite good and quite cheap (most are like 400-500€). I think that L-mount has some really nice lenses for quite a good price while Z mount is more expensive in my opinion. Also, I found ProRes RAW harder to work with than cDNG.Īnother debate of course is the lens selection. If you use slimRAW for DNG import+compress, the filesize also isnt that bad anymore. Just add small SSD and you get such a good picture. Photo quality wise I think they are pretty much on par (might even share the same sensor?) but Fp handles high-iso shadows better, Z6 has annoying banding in the shadows with high ISO. But I must say that it isnt really nice for video unless you upgrade and I am not sure if RAW upgrade + Ninja V is really justified to get a bit better picture. Z6 doesnt give RAW out-of-box, you need to send it to the service where they unlock it for some euros (was like 200 euros or so). Products, food and other static things are easy enough since its tripod job anyways. Id like to have viewfinder for them to see things clearly but I guess you could get away if you use manual focus.
